Sound Art. Alongside my work as a designer, I also have a Sound Art practice. This practice takes various forms including interactive installations, live performance and fixed media composition.

Below The Canopy (2021)

Below the Canopy was a sound walk, an audio experience that was made to be listened to as you walk or move around. For Below the Canopy there was no specific geographical location, instead the piece was freely available online and audience members were asked to choose their own routes. The sound walk hoped to imagine a future eco-utopia in which human beings have rebuilt their relationship with the natural landscape. Throughout the piece, Luciente the central protagonist, tries to describe to us how things have changed. Her voice is accompanied by an original piano score and field recordings collected in Epping Forest. Below The Canopy was created with the support of The Almeida Theatre.

Reminiscence (2023)

Reminiscence was made for The National Library of Scotland's 'Festival of Broadcast' this year as part of my studies at The University of Glasgow. 'Reminiscence' comprises of sounds gathered from a single recording taken from the archive. The piece is an abstract re-imagining of this recording. In the work, the rhythms and melodies within the protagonist's voice are brought to the fore and interwoven with sounds produced by the tape.

2068 (2018)

2068 was an immersive audiovisual installation I made with videographer and lighting designer Emma Sheldrick. Inspired by Ray Bradbury’s short story There Will Come Soft Rains, 2068 was set fifty years in the future. For this project we wanted to explore the themes of ecology and dystopian space, specifically how changes to the environment may affect the ways in which we interact with technology. In Bradbury’s story, a self-automating house has been left empty after a nuclear explosion. Although its inhabitants are gone, the house continues to thrive. We attempted to bring this house to life by creating a multi-disciplinary piece that combined sound art, video and projection.
